About Aviation Week Network's Laureates Awards

The Aviation Week Network’s Laureates awards recognize the extraordinary achievements of individuals and teams in our esteemed industry. These accomplishments embody the spirit of exploration, innovation and vision that inspire others to strive for progress, change and leadership in aviation and aerospace. The Laureates awards are the must-attend event for the industry and attract an audience of 400+ of the industry’s professionals and influencers.

How to Nominate

The Laureates Awards has 4 major categories:  BUSINESS AVIATION; COMMERCIAL; DEFENSE; AND SPACE.  

In each of these categories – there are several sub-categories that you may choose to enter.  

  • After you chose your major category, you will then choose a sub-category applicable to your nomination.  (i.e. you nominate XYZ program for the major category of Commercial in the sub-category of Propulsion).
  • You may submit up to three (3) different nominations in different categories (Note:  you may not submit the same nomination in multiple major categories.  (i.e. you nominate XYZ program for the sub-category of Propulsion in the Commercial, Defense and Business Aviation categories)·      
  • The Philip J. Klass Award for Lifetime Achievement honors an individual(s) whose distinguished career and contributions have sought to expand the boundaries of innovation, perception and wisdom.  Recipients of the award will show exemplary commitments to the industry and demonstrated innovative and visionary leadership. 

Things to consider when nominating:

A strong nomination will clearly identify how the nominee’s work embodies:

  • Collaboration
  • Innovation
  • Contribution
  • Impact 

Review of Nominations:

  • All nominations will be reviewed by the Aviation Week Network Editorial Committee.
  • The Committee will discard nominations that replicate entries from the same teams/ company programs/product.
  • The Committee will go through a pre-selection, reviewing and ranking each nomination and advancing the winners for each Major Category/Sub-Category

(Note: The Editorial Committee may elect to move nominations from one sub-category to another; from one major Category to another if better suited to that category.)

Four cadets and midshipmen from U.S. military academies will be selected to receive this award honoring young men and women who have chosen career paths in the armed forces.

20 Twenties - 2021

The Aviation Week Network along with our premier sponsor, Hexcel, will celebrate the accomplishments and drive of 20 science, technology, engineering and math students in their twenties. The honorees will be chosen from an international field of highly qualified individuals, based on their academic acumen, the value of their research and design projects, and their record for giving back to the broader community.

Every so often, someone comes along who is going to change the world. The 20 Twenties program was established by Aviation Week Network in 2013 to recognize talented individuals who are on course to change the face of the aerospace and defense industry.
